The Seal of Approval is an important step to improve the image of our members. The market branch of undocumented traveling is, like any other market branch, not free of ‘black sheep’, business enterprises that do not play by the rules.
The lack of legal decisions, or, more accurately, the incapability of the state to provide any kind of reliable framework, makes it necessary for the ‘Bundesverband Schleppen und Schleusen’ to face that deficit with self-obligation and initiative of their own.
On one hand, the Seal of Approval confirms general quality criteria, just as they are common for the documented travel market, and does, on the other hand, exclude profiteering, or coupling of the travel market with the employment market. Smugglers with a Seal of Approval must therefore never be employment agents or headhunters. In the same way, a travel agency engaged in the market segment of documented traveling would never offer a job in the country of destination to a customer booking a flight.
By the way: Trying to avoid that kind of coupling, the ‘Bundesverband Schleppen und Schleusen’ emphatically works to achieve the separation of traveling legislation and employment legislation for documented traveling as well.
A word on the costs: Profiteering is, of course, prohibited in Germany; and the struggle against it is the official authorities’ business. Smugglers with a Seal of Approval do their work at a reasonable price. But do not let yourself be blinded; the media like to compare pears with tomatoes, say, a luxury smuggling with a dumping price package tour.
To repeat: It is our aim to see undocumented traveling get legalized and nationally supported, as it would be appropriate for this growth branch. This would further have a positive influence on price developments in favor of the customers.
